I secured Lot 347 at the Inglis Classic — a colt by Alabama Express, the fastest-rising young sire in Australia.
His service fee has detonated from $22,000 to $66,000 in just 24 months. That's what happens when your first two crops produce 16.2% stakes horses to runners — more than triple the industry average — and you've already sired a Triple Group 1 winner.
"Redoute's Choice sons either make it big or they don't. Alabama Express? He's making it very big. The market is calling him the next Zoustar. I think they're right."
116 runners. 65 winners. 5 stakes winners. $12 million+ in progeny earnings. And he's only just begun.
Treasurethe Moment — VRC Oaks, ATC Oaks, Memsie Stakes — $4.5 million and counting. Shangri La Express won the Inglis Golden Gift. Alabama Lass took the G2 Matamata Breeders' Stakes. These aren't flukes. This is a pattern.

"I don't buy often. When I do, it's because
everything aligns — sire on the way up,
family active and stakes-winning,
conformation that matches the pedigree
on the page."
MARK -REGAL BLOODSTOCK
The dam Riduna — by champion broodmare sire Fastnet Rock — won three races, earned $235,000, and was Group 3 placed while trained by Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott. That calibre of stable doesn't waste a box on anything ordinary.
But it's what she's already produced that stopped me in my tracks.
"Without Peer is a very, very serious horse. Very green, still learning, still furnishing — but he will win multiple black-type races. Lot 347 is his carbon copy."
Without Peer (half-brother, by Pierata) — won impressively first-up at Rosehill, then third in the G3 Ming Dynasty. About to launch his second preparation. I inspected this colt as a yearling. Same athletic build, same quality, same presence.
Call Me Gorgeous (half-brother) — won his Randwick debut by four lengths, eased down, then sold to Hong Kong for an incredible sum.
Listed winner Casquets. Listed winner Ballet Suite. Stakes-placed Loco. Third dam Suitely threw eight winners from ten foals.
This is a working family, updating constantly.

Fastnet Rock was crowned Australia's Champion Broodmare Sire in 2023–24 and again in 2024–25 with record progeny earnings of $37 million. His daughters have produced over 206 stakes winners — Lady Of Camelot, Gytrash, Santa Ana Lane, Zougotcha — making this one of the most valuable maternal lines in the market.
The Redoute's Choice line over Fastnet Rock mares has already delivered Group 1 winners at the highest level. Written Tycoon sired Golden Slipper winner Lady Of Camelot. Zoustar sired Zougotcha and Platinum Jubilee.
The pattern is proven.
Alabama Express represents the next generation of this nick. Genetic compatibility isn't theoretical here — it's already producing Group 1 winners. The Danehill 3×4 line-breeding?
That's a proven Australian pattern. Not tight, not risky. Just speed meeting class, generation after generation.
We don't just talk about finding value — we deliver it on the racetrack.
Regal Zeus — Kilmore Cup winner. Bought with the same philosophy: ascending sire, active family, physical merit that matched the pedigree. Sound familiar?
That discipline — buying rarely, buying well, placing with the right trainer — is why our strike rate sits where it does.
Lot 347 meets that standard as well as anything I've seen
in this market.
I modelled fair value at $340,000 given the sire's trajectory, the Fastnet Rock premium, and Yulong's
preparation standards. I was prepared to pay it.
The hammer fell at $220,000.
Alabama Express yearlings averaged $300,789 at the 2026 Magic Millions, topped by an $850,000 colt. His
service fee has tripled. Given where he's heading and where his yearlings will be priced next year — that's
genuine value capture.
The 2026 crop is his largest (135+ weanlings), which creates temporary supply pressure. That's our entry
window.
The commercial safety net: We could prepare this colt for the Ready2Race sale in October. Hong Kong
investors are paying minimum twice purchase price for sound, well-bred colts who can breeze under 12
seconds. Based on his genetics and type, that should be absolutely achievable.
But that's not my aim. I want this colt representing us in Stakes races. I want him building our brand.
This colt's genetic architecture says 1400m–2000m — genuine classic distance potential. Fastnet Rock gives early speed. High Chaparral and Encosta de Lago provide stamina. Caulfield Guineas.
Australian Guineas. The races where reputations are made.
Trainer shortlist : Ciaron Maher & David Eustace (strong Alabama Express buyers), Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott (trained the dam), Matt Laurie (trained Treasurethe Moment), Annabel Neasham. The colt will be placed with a stable that knows this sire's progeny and operates on the Sydney/Melbourne carnival circuit.

Consigned by Yulong Stud, the home of Alabama Express — they know this sire's progeny better than anyone.
Lot 347 is everything Alabama Express is throwing: athletic, well-muscled, strong bone, excellent temperament.

You know I don't buy often. When I do, it's because everything
aligns — sire on the way up, family active and stakes-winning,
physical conformation that actually matches the pedigree on
the page.
That discipline is why our strike rate sits where it does.
"I haven't advertised this colt publicly. I won't be. If you're reading this,
it's because I wanted you to have first look."
Just the horse, at the price I paid, because I want the right
partners around him. The genetic architecture, the active
family, the ascending sire, the commercial safety net
— it all aligns.
